The reform is part of the regional government reform, for which legislation was adopted on 18 June 2025.
All the duties of Valvira, most of the duties of the Regional State Administrative Agencies, and the majority of the duties of the Environment and Natural Resources area of responsibility of the Centres for Economic Development Transport and the Environment will be transferred into the new Finnish Supervisory Agency, to which Tukija will also be transferred on 1 January 2026.
